How to Convert Your Personal Blog into a Business

Convert Your Personal Blog into a Business

You’re not going to believe what this blog post can do for you.

Suppose, you start a blog and after 8 months, it turned out to be a full-time business for you.

How about that?

This is what I’m going to discuss in this blog post.

Are you in?

I turned my personal blog into a full-time living.

So, I’m going to share what exactly it requires.

There are three steps to follow:

#1. Find Your Thing

You can’t win at someone else’s passion. So find yours. People stop at this point because they don’t have any idea what their passion is. I figured out back in 2008 that blogging is my passion. And, I’m in love with it ever since.

Laura Smith explains her story of finding her thing in this video.

Evan Carmichael‘s video explains the concept of finding your thing even better.

Finding your thing will certainly be a stepping stone to your success. Because once you find it, you may no longer depend on the voices that tell you what to do, instead, you go one step ahead and try to figure out what to do next.

#2. Create Content Around Your Passion

At this stage, you would have clearly found your voice — this means you know what you’re passionate about and who to reach out. In the blogosphere, we often refer it to staying in your niche, meaning that you should stick to your niche and don’t mix up multiple niches along the way.

When you create content around your passion, the benefit is that when a new reader scrolls through the blog, it becomes easier to understand that what your blog is all about.

Gary Vaynerchuk talks a lot about self-awareness. He means that you should know who you are, what you want, and where you belong to. The concept of self-awareness helps you find your true self.

The idea is very simple; go search what people are saying in your niche, and what you can tell that’s missing out there. You don’t have to copy anyone, instead, you need to be better, clearer, and wiser.

#3. Cash in on the Opportunities

A long time ago, when Google Adsense disabled the ads on one of my blogs, I felt that it’s the end of my blogging. I literally felt that way. But a few weeks later, I stepped into Affiliate Marketing and started knowing the basics of a new monetization strategy. I wouldn’t have started learning about affiliate marketing if that had not happened to me. So, opportunities are limitless; we just have to get off the couch and start looking for them.

For instance, if you’re good at blogging and love writing, you could sell e-books via your blog. Check out Selz, Gumroad, and E-Junkie selling systems for that.

Check out the affiliate networks like ShareASale and ClickBank. You may find a related product to promote on your blog.

If nothing is working out for you. Go check out what products you have bought to run your business or blog. For instance, web hosting, domain, premium theme, paid plugins, e-books from Amazon etc.

Check out the affiliate programs of the products you purchased and try to join them to make money off of your blog. The best way to promote a product and earn commission is purchase and try it out first, if it looks good then promote it on your blog to make a small commission on each sale.

You can sell your service as well. Besides blogging, if you’re good at graphic designing, web development, content writing, infographic making, e-book cover designing, website optimization, landing page making, or anything else, just step up and make an offer on your blog by creating a separate page. Call it a ‘Hire Me‘ page or something. Provide all the necessary details on that page. Use a banner to advertise your hire me page. Do something.

In fact, you can sell your Fiverr or PeoplePerHour gigs through your blog. If you’re a platform-person and like to work on freelance platforms and not getting traction on those platforms, use your blog to drive traffic to your offer page.

Conclusion

As I said, the opportunities are limitless.

From Skype description to email signatures, you can attract the audience to let them know what your offer is.

All it requires is your willingness to offer your service.

It’s the best time to use the power of a personal blog and convert it into a business.

The personal blog would be your garage. You can experiment whatever you want.

I’ve tried to share the opportunity of using the personal blog to build a business around it.

What would you advise to someone who is willing to launch a personal blog?

I’ll see you in the comments section.

Do you want to receive whatever I send out to my subscribers?

  1. Hello, Hassaan bhai!

That is so powerful being a recognized voice in the field of blogging!

And then turning that power into the selling system.

Like you’re a well-known name in the blogging, and now you’re turning towards monetizing your efforts like writing, affiliate marketing, e-books, etc.

But I see most people turning towards affiliate marketing because it has some edge over all the earning avenues.

And I also have seen the good people earning awesome through selling their services; notably writing, technical assistance, and the coaching to be exact.

I have yet to decide for myself.

I feel good at writing, but along with blogging, I have a full-day job, and you know it could be somewhat difficult to offer the service-based system where the due dates are too important to be in the scope.

Especially when your focus is on the 3rd-party sites like Fiverr, PeoplePerHour, upWork, etc.

I’ll work it out for myself pretty ASAP in the light of your given options! 🙂

So, thank you so much! 🙂

    1. Hello, Adeel Sir!

Thank you so much for reading this blog post. There are many ways to monetize the blog. Everyone has a different talent to cash in on to.

The purpose of mentioning a few ways to make money blogging was to allow readers to explore. When readers know that there are many ways to choose from, it gets way easier to get the job done. I’m glad you read my blog post and left a comment. Thank you, again.

  2. Hassaan, when we talk about monetisation of blog for new and intermediate bloggers, my understanding is that “affiliate marketing” is the best bet for many. Jon Morrow (Smartblogger.com) also concluded in one of his articles the same fact that for new bloggers, this is perhaps the most practical and useful avenue of monetisation.

However, almost all experienced bloggers then talk about sales and services. If you have a product or a service to sell (of your own), this is perhaps the most rewarding method of monetising your blog. But it needs time, experience and effort.

A good article, keep up the good work, cheers.

    1. I also believe that affiliate marketing is a great monetization strategy for beginners. In fact, you can start affiliate marketing from the day 1. However, it comes down to what you’re promoting, why you’re promoting that, and how you’re going to convince people to buy it.

      1. True, one needs to have a real passion about the product/service they are affiliate to. This is when the readers can feel it and trust is grown.
