A Mistake I’m Not Going to Repeat in Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing looks great. And easy as well – But trust me it’s not easy – It’s great if you understand it, and keep on working on it, keep on focusing on it, and never stop research and refining… I always brainstorm on my blogging strategies.

It makes me happy sometimes – And sometimes I end up cursing on my steps were taken in the past. I have joined many Affiliate Marketing Programs, talked dozen of companies, analyzed hundreds of products, checked bundle of niches…

So, one day I realized what I never thought earlier – There are many things I adopted, left and changed. And those things I try to share with other bloggers, starters, and companies…

Example:

Before selling my first niche blog, I did an experiment which can be said positive as far as Blog traffic is concerned, but I never considered it successful… It was Blogging tips Blog for Bloggers and Small Businesses… I joined Shopify Affiliate Program to promote E-commerce Site Builder. No doubt, Shopify is an amazing and successful e-commerce store builder, and I started getting regular traffic from search engines on my content related to E-commerce Website Builder

But the problem was, I did that experiment after almost 1 year of its launch – I should have done that in the beginning…

Want to know Why?

Because, I had almost 250+ published posts which were totally related to Blogging and Bloggers – And those posts had nothing to do with Shopping and E-commerce Site Builder – When I pushed my Content Strategy towards E-commerce and E-store Builder, I got traffic, but never got authority…

People describe Authority in their own ways – For me, It’s like strength, quality, presence and impact of your Blog/Website in specific category… Although I got traffic on those blog posts which I wrote about E-commerce Website builder and even got some trial sign ups, but those prospects were not turning to customers…

that was the real problem… Then, I realized that My Blog’s Authority and Base is different – I should focus on the area which I belong to or my blog belongs to…

Well, that’s not the Real Lesson I want to tell you…

Here it comes

I learned that Affiliate Marketing is about focus, it’s about Specific Niche, It’s about Specific People (Audience), it’s about Solving their problems, It’s about promoting the best product… If you don’t want to use a Product personally or You’ll never use that product, then don’t promote it.

Example:

I use Bluehost and Proudly Promote it – I have no fear about the quality of this Web hosting – I’m not worried that if some Blogger signs up for Bluehost through my Blog to Start Blogging, he might face issues with the Web hosting servers quality… Because I knew it… It won’t happen… it’s called trust, it’s called Customer Loyalty…

It’s not really a One-Affiliate-Marketing-Lesson Blog Post (if you analyze it deeply) … I don’t care that I promised to tell 1 Lesson or 1 Mistake of mine, and I’ m sharing a dozen of lessons to the Bloggers… I love it

If my Content or Blog Post works for someone and he/she takes benefit out of it, it’s priceless…

So,

Let me tell you now:

A Mistake I’m Not Going to Repeat in Affiliate Marketing

Multiple Niches to Blog for Affiliate Marketing

Yeah! I have done in the past. I wasn’t aware of the outcome of that – Obviously, you can’t get a Masters Degree in Blogging and Content Strategy – All you need is to be ready to experiment, research, try, work hard and learn…

The most painful thing which I felt by picking multiple niches at the same time (in some cases on the same blog) was the diversified income stream…

Once I had few Affiliate Marketing Sales but I wasn’t able to Cash out…

How?

The Sales I had in my pocket were:

1  Affiliate Sale on Hostgator of $50,

1 Affiliate Sale on Elegant themes of $19.50

1 Affiliate Sale on Famethemes of $19 (approx.)

1 Affiliate Sale on CJ of $50

But, Unfortunately, I could not cash all the commissions at once at that time – Obviously, every affiliate program has its payout limit which needs to be reached to cash your commission… And, I didn’t reach to that amount which is also known as Minimum Threshold … So, I wasn’t able to receive the money I earned…

Despite running various Affiliate Marketing Programs or Various Niches on the same blog, I should have chosen a specific niche to target specific market…

I suggest you not to go for multiple niches…

Because

Multiple Niches = Multiple Type of Affiliate Programs = Total Mess

Remember, Related and Similar type of Affiliate Program might not hurt your affiliate marketing

For Example

If you run a Blog for Bloggers to Provide Blogging tips – And you join an affiliate program of Premium WordPress themes and Web hosting for WordPress Blogs… Both are inter-related, and Bloggers need both products…

That would be okay…

But, try to go more specific, and focus on fewer categories in a single niche…
